Thinking
Mazda New Zealand is a keen supporter of the arts in New
Zealand. DBPR first secured sponsorship of the Best Female Solo
Artist category at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards in 2007.
We continued this sponsorship through to 2010 and had a great deal
of fun along the way.
What was done
To promote the Mazda's Best Female Solo Artist category
sponsorship in 2010, Mazda partnered with radio station The Edge to
run a promotion to find New Zealand's next up-and-coming female
solo artist.
Listeners were asked to upload videos of themselves singing
their favourite songs to The Edge's website with fellow listeners
then being asked to vote for their favourite performance.
Our winner, Yvonne Nicholson of Auckland, was treated to a VIP
experience at the Music Awards including a stay at 5-star hotel, a
complete makeover, attendance at the official VIP pre-event party,
a trip down to the awards in a limousine and all the glitz and
glamour of the red carpet.
In addition, Mazda supplied event organisers with a
new-generation Mazda6 promotional vehicles decked out with stunning
graphics of this year's Mazda Best Female Solo Artist nominees -
Anika Moa, Gin Wigmore and Hollie Smith - by renowned tattoo and
airbrush artist Rose Hardy.
At the event itself, Mazda provided a mixture of 6 limited
edition Mazda6s and CX-7s as the official limousines to ferry the
celebrities from the pre-awards function to the big event at Vector
Arena.
The result
It was a fantastic evening with Anika Moa taking home the Mazda
Best Female Solo Artist award.
The Music Awards sponsorship capped off a hugely successful year
for Mazda which steadily grew its market share and launched
facelift models of the Mazda2 and Mazda6 as well as a new CX-7
crossover variant to its model line up.
