With more than 20 years working in public relations in New
Zealand and Europe, John has a accumulated a wealth of public
relations experience across a range of industry sectors.
Major companies that John has worked with, both locally and
overseas, include Novell, Canon, Mazda, Fairfax NZ, United
Airlines, Dominion Finance, NZI, BHP, adidas, Nestle and UBS.
John was also involved in two Americas Cup campaigns, including
New Zealand's very first challenge in Freemantle.
Prior to co-founding DonovanBoyd, John was the managing director
of Hill & Knowlton for a number of years and before that was a
partner at Crossman Communications for ten years.
In keeping with his annual New Year's resolution, John strives
to also have a life outside the office - his wife Jane, if pressed,
may offer a slightly divergent opinion. However, as they've been
married for 25 years, Jane obviously has the patience and
temperament of a saint. They have two children: Christopher and
Jemma.
John's greatest public claim to fame as a parent was coaching
his son's cricket team for six years - including an unbeaten run
for two years. John opted to retire at "the top of his game", but
those closest to him insist he got out before the kids realised he
didn't know what he was doing...
Since retiring as a cricket coach, John tries to keep semi-fit
by going for the occasional jog and playing a very bad game of
golf. John also enjoys the odd glass of wine and standing by the
BBQ pretending he can cook.
